Nina Leth - artist - born 1972
Shaped wall reliefs, wall hangings, wall sculpture or shaped paintings.
It is hard to give my artwork a name, maybe new media is most accurate.
I am a danish artist who have always been shaping mdf paintings, since I really like that my work is not in a box. To me It's not hip to be square..
And the holes that gives a glimpse to the wall, interesting.
As a person I am torn between boho and elegant, as are my artwork. So I decided to embrace them all and let it all happen.
I am inspired by ribbon and elastics. I often play around with them to make new shapes . Then I draw them, use a scissor and hang them for a while. Then it is time to Illustrator, where I make the file for the laser cutter, CNC router or hand cut them, when they feel right.
Epoxy resin is often used, since I love the crystal clear epoxy with the matte acrylics.
I am also an independent pattern designer, who primarily sells on Spoonflower, Minted and Redbubble. One of my designs is on the Spoonflower wallpaper landing page, so it sells very well and frees up time for me to go all in with my art.
My shaped canvases emerged from my posters and drawings, where all the ribbons, tape, elastics and other round shapes, asked higher every day to become shapes instead.
I have just started in a KBH contemporary Gallery and start in Gallery Sandberg soon.
